Preparation & Concepting

The goal of this episode is to understand that concept art is a form of visual problem solving. The game has requirements that need to be met, so the first thing we need to do is establish a context. Is it a realistic or stylized game? Is it for mobile or PC? FPS or MOBA? Only after we've established the context can we understand the scope of the project and make a plan. This episode also introduces the idea of iterating on a concept; learning to analyse and improve on your work until you arrive at the destination. By creating thumbnails and iterating, we end up with a final turnaround for our character.
